How It Works

When a workflow reaches a decision point that requires human judgment, it pauses running, then sends a request for approval via Slack, Teams, email, or whatever channel your team already uses. Users can review, approve, reject, or give feedback. The workflow proceeds accordingly. 

This instantly makes agentic workflows more reliable and easier to embed in critical processes within regulated enterprises. 

A Real Example

One of our clients, a major global bank, was spending millions of dollars a year on AML compliance research, with each case taking 3-4 hours per analyst.

With StackAI, they built a workflow that handles the entire research and pre-screening process automatically: ingesting the government alert, calling sub-agents to search the internet and internal databases, cross-referencing the bank's SOPs from SharePoint, and writing a recommendation memo on whether or not to close the account. 

Here’s where HITL comes in. Before any action is taken, the workflow sends a request for approval to the compliance manager via Slack. The manager scans the memo, reviews the findings, and clicks approve or asks for more research. If approved, the agent logs into the bank’s compliance portal in a browser window, authenticates, and submits the request to close the account.
